Pet Loss Support Resources and Counseling Services

Your pet holds a special place in your heart. The bond you share with your pet is unique and different from other relationships in your life. You may see your pet as being many things (a child, sibling, or even best friend). In fact, most pet owners consider their pets to be family members and sources of unconditional love and support. When you develop such deep emotional bonds with your pet, it is normal to experience stress or feelings of grief upon the illness, injury, or death of your special friend.

Understanding your Feelings

When a pet is hospitalized for any reason, it can be a very stressful experience for you (and for a family). You may have many questions or concerns about what will happen, or how your pet will respond. At Mountain Shadows Pet Hospital, we want you to be assured that we are here to support you as well as your pet. When your pet is ill or injured, you may feel shock, confusion, anger, and sadness. If your pet has died, you may experience intense feelings of loss and grief. All of these responses are completely normal emotional reactions, but can be difficult to deal with.

The Mountain Shadows Pet Hospital Client Support Program

The client support program was created to provide support to you and your family. We understand the unique stresses and feelings that often accompany pet illness or death and we are here to listen, and to help you sort out your feelings.
